Recycled Tin Can Candle

tin-candle-1

This is a great craft for kids to do for a Christmas or Birthday present for someone!  Help the environment by recycling an empty tin can and turning it into a candle.  NOTE–Kids should always be supervised by an adult when making candles.

Directions:

  1. Wash out the empty tin can and let it dry.
  2. Adhere a Candle Dot to the center of the tin can.
  3. Take your Wick and firmly push the wick onto the Candle Dot.  (For our 3″ diameter can, we used the HTP-104 Wick.)
  4. Gently place the Wick through the Wick Holder‘s hole and center the Wick in the tin can.
  5. Using the Container Wax of your choice and your preferred melting method, melt enough wax to fill the tin can.  (Our can used approximately 10 ounces of Nature Wax C-3.)
  6. Color and scent the wax.  (We used a yellow dye and Banana Nut Bread Fragrance Oil.)
  7. Carefully pour the wax into the tin can.
  8. Allow the wax to harden over night.
  9. Decorate the tin can to add flair!
