The first thing we will do is make some chunks. Weigh the soap and put it into your measuring cup. I am making a 4 oz. bar of each of these colors.
Melt it in the microwave stirring every 45 seconds or so. Once it is completely melted, add your fragrance oil and colorant. For this one, I am using about 8 drops of liquid red colorant. Stir the colorant and fragrance into the soap and then pour it into the mold. Set the soap aside or pop it into the refrigerator to cool.
Once the bars are hardened, pop them out of the mold and cut them into chunks. Here you can add your own creativity: big chunks, little chunks different sizes; it is up to you. You can even shred the soap, like I am doing here. Once your chunks and/or shreds are prepared, arrange them into the molds. Mix them up, layer them, arrange them however you like.
Now it is time to do the over pour. You want to melt your soap (I am melting about 16 oz here) into your measuring cup. However, once it is melted you need to let it cool till it is about 120 degrees. If you pour it over the chunks while it is still very hot, you will cause the chunks to melt and some of them will bleed color into the over pour (not bad, if you want that look).
Spritz the chunks with a little rubbing alcohol. Once the soap has cooled to about 120 degrees, gentle pour it over the chunks. Gently tap the mold on the counter top to dislodge any air bubbles that may have gotten trapped. Spritz the finished top layer with rubbing alchol to remove air bubbles. Set the soap bars aside or into the refrigerator to cool.
Once the soaps have cooled and hardened completely, simply turn the mold over and give them a little press and they will pop out of the mold. That is all there is to it! Different combinations of chunks and shapes make different themed soaps.
