If you have candle stubs left over from votives, pillars, or tapers and aren’t sure what to do with them, try these nifty winter ideas to reuse the leftover wax.
- Coat the edge of a shovel or ice scraper with the wax. The snow and ice will slide right off and not build up.
- After sealing and addressing your holiday cards, add a vintage touch by dripping candle wax over the tip of the envelope flap. It adds some festive charm and helps keep the envelope sealed.
- Melt a candle stub and drizzle the wax liberally over a piece of kindling or a pine cone. Allow the wax to fully dry. When needed, place the wax covered wood into the fireplace and use as a fire starter.
- Create your own waterproof shipping label by lightly rubbing the end of a pale-colored candle nub over your package’s address label (dark colored waxes may dye the label). It will help prevent snow and moisture from making the ink on the label bleed.
