Reuse Candle Wax Ideas for Winter

If you have candle stubs left over from votives, pillars, or tapers and aren’t sure what to do with them, try these nifty winter ideas to reuse the leftover wax.

  • Coat the edge of a shovel or ice scraper with the wax.  The snow and ice will slide right off and not build up.
  • After sealing and addressing your holiday cards, add a vintage touch by dripping candle wax over the tip of the envelope flap.  It adds some festive charm and helps keep the envelope sealed.
  • Melt a candle stub and drizzle the wax liberally over a piece of kindling or a pine cone.  Allow the wax to fully dry.  When needed, place the wax covered wood into the fireplace and use as a fire starter.
  • Create your own waterproof shipping label by lightly rubbing the end of a pale-colored candle nub over your package’s address label (dark colored waxes may dye the label).  It will help prevent snow and moisture from making the ink on the label bleed.
